Edward served with the 2nd Delaware Infantry, Company I during the Civil War.
Based on military records ..... While on a march to engage in what would be known as the Bristoe campaign that occurred from October 13th through November 7th, 1863 in Virginia, he was captured by the Confederate Army on October 11th, 1863 (while possibly on guard duty) and was then was sent to the Andersonville Prison, in Georgia by the Confederate Army.
Even thought his headstone, made by his family, mentions he died at Kenasaw Mountain, Georgia they more than likely heard of the battle that occurred in that area in June of 1864 and assumed that is where he died.
Military records also note, unlike his headstone, that he died on August 15, 1864 at Andersonville Prison and not on June 28th, 1864.
Edward "Died Of Disease" at Andersonville Prison, Georgia during the war.
