Jennings, June 24,-Mrs Elmira Zerfass Alcock, relict of Alexander G. Alcock, died at the family home in Jennings at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, July 21, aged 73 years, 9 months, and 29 days.
Funeral services occurred at the residence Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. J.A. Thome of congregational church and Rev. Lee Nelson, of the First Baptist church officiating. Deceased had a large circle of friends and acquaintances who join in extending to her bereaved children heartfelt sympathy.
Mrs. Elmira Zerfass was born at Enfield Center, Thompkins county New York, Aug. 23, 1839, Died June 22, 1913.
She was married to Alexander G. Alcock at Delhi, Delaware county, Iowa, Dec. 4, 1855.To this union three sons and two daughters were born. Mrs. William Humphrey of Shelton, Iowa; Jerome R. and George B. Alcock, of Jennings, and Monroe S. Alcock and Mrs. Martha Bolles, deceased.
She was converted in 1857 and First United with the Free Will Baptist Church at Masonville, Iowa. Since residing in Jennings she has been a member of the Congregational church.
She came to China, La. in 1887, where she resided until 1897, when she moved to Jennings, where she has resided ever since, until her death.
