Mr. Joseph M. Kroll, 95, of North Sewickley Twp., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday evening, December 4, 2013 at his residence.

He was born in Connoquenessing, Butler County, on February 2, 1918, to the late Andrew W. Kroll and the late Mary B. Kroll.

He attended school at the one-room schoolhouse on American School Road in Fombell.

Joe was a member of Camp Run United Presbyterian Church since 1930, serving as a church Trustee, Elder, and Sunday School superintendent.

He owned Eco-Peak Farm in Fombell where he enjoyed working the fields alongside his family. Joe also held positions at the former Ellwood Works of U.S. Steel, as a salesman for Surge, and as a rural mail carrier in Fombell. He was also a 4-H leader where he mentored future farmers. Joe enjoyed spending his free time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Marion W. Quinn Kroll, who died February 13, 1991, and his second wife, Velma A. Seitz Cochran Kroll, who died March 4, 2001. He was also preceded by two brothers and two sisters: Anna Miller, Rev. Frank M. Kroll, Stanley Kroll, and Julia Boyd, as well as a great-granddaughter, Madison Bradburn.

He is survived by two sons and three daughters: Richard M. (and Judy) Kroll of Fombell, Terry J. (and Emily) Kroll of Rochester, PA; Norma (and John) Senediak of Lexia, VA; Patrice J. Kroll of Ellwood City; and Kimberly (and William) Gillespie of North Sewickley Twp.

Eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren also survive as well as two brothers and a sister: Edward and Leon Kroll, both of Florida, and Mary Yarzebinski of Allison Park.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Camp Run United Presbyterian Church, 489 Church Road, Fombell, with his pastor, Rev. Andrew Schaffer, officiating.

The interment will be in the Camp Run Church Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Gateway Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Joe.
