Delbert Lamb,39 Whitehorse rancher, died in a traffic mishap about a half mile west of Whitehorse. Mr Lamb apparently lost control of his pickup which hit an abutment, bounced several feet before coming to rest. Mr. Lamb was thrown from the vehicle which he had purchased just 10 days prior to the mishap. He was alone in the vehicle so the exact cause is unknown. It is speculated he may have suffered a heart attack.

Funeral services were at St. Theresa Catholic of Whitehorse with Fr Victor Perky officiating. Interment was in TL cemetery. Military honors by VFW post of Eagle Butte, and by the graveside Gene Gelino post of TL. Kesling FH in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were: Mickey Austin, Roman Ducheneaux, Dick Ward, Pete Longbrake, Pinky Jewett, and Robert Smith Jr. Honorary bearers included: Freddie Cudmore, Ernest Hammrich, Frank Tibbs, John Maciejewski, Tony Osibov and Jim O'Leary.

Delbert Lamb was born June 14, 1934, at the old Cheyenne Agency, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jules Lamb. He attended grade school at Whitehorse and Wakpala, and high school at Cheyenne Agency. He enlisted in 1953 and served during the Korean War. He married Sharon Ducheneaux on Feb 21, 1959, at Phoenix, AZ. They moved to a ranch 3 miles NW of Whitehorse where he engaged in ranching and in rodeo stock contracting.

Survivors include his widow: Sharon; son: Delbert Jr 11; two daughters: Deleen 14 and Nadean 12; mother: Marie Lamb of TL; brother: Richard of Parkers Prairie, MN; sister: Romona (Sharkee) Williams of Faith; half-brother: Ken of Chicago, IL; half-sister: Alice (Emil) Papke of Chicago, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Bud.
