PAUL G. EILERS
Paul G. Eilers, 79,died at the Anamosa Community hospital Friday, Jan. 26, following an extended illness.
He was born at Monticello, Dec. 10,1899, the son of Henry and Mary Peters Eilers. He received his education in the local schools.
Paul Eilers and Hannah Zimmerman were united in marriage Nov. 16, 1921 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran church and the couple made their home in Monticello until moving to Anamosa in 1929. Until his retirement he had worked as a carpenter in the Cedar Rapids area.
Mrs.Eilers preceded him in death May 30, 1973. He is survived by six children, William,. James, Robert and Edward of Anamosa, Galen of Walker and Mrs. John (Joan) Schneiter of Marion.
Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Lois (Elaine) Heiken of Monticello and two brothers, Grant Eilers of Porterville, Calif. and Irving Eilers of Center Junction.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a son, Lavern, his parents, three sisters and a brother.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 29 at 1:30 p.m. with burial in Riverside cemetery. Rev. Ronald Benfer officiated at the services.
Casket bearers were his grandsons, William Eilers, Jr., David Schneiter, Tom Eilers, Galen Eilers, John Eilers, and Gary Eilers.
