Sandra Jean Sparks, 53, died on December 4, 2013. She was born in Mason City, Iowa on June 19, 1960 to Bob and Barbara Furnish.

Sparks loved to teach and be a mentor. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and occasionally reading a good book or two. Most of all she loved to travel!

She married in October of 1989 to the love of her life, Eddie Sparks, who shared his life with her for 24 years.

Sparks raised her children, Courtney and Ed Sparks in the Sagemont area while being a stay-at-home mom for 14 years. The couple attended Sagemont Baptist for 15 years.

At the age of 50, Sparks graduated from University of Houston – Clear Lake with her Bachelors of Science so that she could help special needs children.

After obtaining her Bachelors of Science in Education, Sparks became a special needs teacher at De Zavala Middle School in Pasadena ISD.

She is survived by her husband Eddie Sparks; daughter, Courtney Hamill and husband Keith; son, Ed Sparks; stepdaughter, Harriett Crabtree along with members of her extended family.

Visitation will be from 4:00pm until 6:00pm Sunday, December 8th and the funeral service celebrating Sparks' life will be at 2:00pm on Monday, December 9th both held at Niday Funeral Home – Beamer Chapel. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland.
