Wade Houston Mitchell, age 76, of Richlands, Virginia passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at his home.
He was born April 28, 1937 in Buchanan County, Virginia and was the son of the late Owen and Mayme Wimmer Mitchell. Wade retired from Jewell Ridge Coal Company, where after retirement he enjoyed the simple life of farming and raising cattle. He was a member of the Local Union #7327 in Jewell Valley, Virginia. He lived most of his life in the Jewell Valley area and was a member of The Living Word Outreach Church in Pilgrims Knob, Virginia. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Irene Hess; one niece, Donna Gail Mitchell and one nephew, Leon Hicks.

Funeral services for Wade Houston Mitchell will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Rev. James Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Cemetery at Pea Patch near Jewell Ridge, Virginia. Nephews will be serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
