He was born September 14, 1927 in Cato, MO the son of George T. & Olivia {Bradley} Blythe. On March 6, 1954 he was united in marriage to Vera Harris, who preceded him in death on August 10, 2008. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Curtina "Tina" Autrey; a son-in-law, Russel May, one brother, John Blythe and a half-brother, Wayne Blythe.
Surviving are two daughters, Cathy May and Karen Allen and her husband, Greg both of Cassville; a son-in-law, Tom Autrey of Cassville; one sister, Maetta Coones of Cassville; seven grandchildren, John May, Bob May, Mary May, Ben Autrey, Olivia Autrey, Mary Beth Mullins and Sarah Allen and eleven great grandchildren.
Bob grew up in Cato where he received his elementary education and then graduated from Cassville High School in 1944. He received his bachelor degree from SMS in Springfield and master degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, graduating Magna Cum Laude. During the Korean War he served in the United States Army. For several years he taught math and industrial arts in Exeter, Stella, Purdy and Cassville.
He was a member of Mill Street Church of Christ in Cassville, where services were held on Monday, April 23, 2018. Ken West conducted the services. Burial at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter.
