Pratt, KS - Eugene Behnkendorf, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Pratt Rehabilitation and Residence Center Pratt, KS. He was born July 10, 1920 in Farmington, MO the son of August and Emelia (Linsenmayer) Behnkendorf.

He served four years in the Army of the United States Air Force. He was a staff Sergeant served in the South West Pacific. He was awarded Five Bronze Stars for the five campaigns his fighter squadron was in.

He came to Kansas in 1946 at Sun City, Kansas where he worked in the Gypsum Mine. He met his wife Lousie Saunders and they were married May 11, 1947. She died August 24, 2011. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Pratt. They had moved to Pratt in 1954. He retired from K.P.L. in March 1983.

Survivors include twin sister Edith Pfeiffer, a niece Linda Chaplin, a nephew Tim Pfeiffer, and other family members; Bill & Freya Lynch and Bob and Karen Harshaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother who was killed in action May 1945 overseas on a Destroyer in South West Pacific.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Larrison Mortuary 300 Country Club Rd, Pratt, KS.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2013 at Larrison Mortuary Pratt, KS with John Hamm presiding. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Sun City, Ks
