Funeral Report.
PHILLIPS, Cpl E M - Died Wellington 1st July 1915 - Funeral took place at Albany Cemetery with Military Honours. The coffin was taken from Auckland via Birkenhead on a gun carriage drawn by four horses, preceded by a firing party from the National Reserve under Capt. HUTCHINSON and Q.M.S.M. ROBERTSON. A large number of Troopers of the 3rd, Auckland, Co. Mounted Rifles of which deceased was formerly a member under Major JOLLY and Capt. ALDRED followed the gun carriage. There was a very large attendance of settlers of the surrounding district. The service was read by Rev W G Monckton, Chaplain of the Regiment and 3 volleys were fired and the Last Post sounded. The Committee of the Albany School have decided to erect a tablet to the memory of the deceased at the school where he received his early education.
