Licensed to preach 1833, received into Virginia Conference 1834 & continued in the active ministry a period of nearly 33 years, profound thinker, wise counselor and good preacher. Many have been led to Jesus through his labors.
Farewell! We cherish thy memory.
He was a devoted husband, a kind parent and consistant Christian. His example pure and just; his conversation chaste. In trials he could say truly "None of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy and the mines try which I have received of the Lord, Jesus. My flesh shall rest in hope"
