Mrs. Georgia Rogers Carter, 98, of Valley, AL passed away on Sunday, 1 Dec 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Lanett, AL.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. (EST) Tuesday, 3 Dec 2013 at the Shawmut United Methodist Church in Valley, AL with Rev Donnie Erwin-Brown officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service hour at the church.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her two sons, James Randall Rogers of Montgomery, AL and Richard (Myra) Rogers of Pine Mt., GA; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 1 sister; and 1 brother. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Owen Rogers; second husband, Bernard L. Carter; 1 brother.
Mrs. Carter was born 28 Dec 1914 in Langdale, AL. She was an active member of Shawmut United Methodist Church. She was a Cub Scout Leader for many years and was also a "cook". She volunteered for many years at Lanier Hospital and Lanier Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Shawmut United Methodist Church in her memory.
