Ethel B. Prosser, 84, a lifetime resident of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2004 at VNA Horton Hospice Center, Valparaiso. She was born on July 8, 1919 in Wheeler, Indiana to Paul G. and Edith (Carey) Rosenbaum. Ethel graduated from Portage High School. On July 2, 1939 Ethel married Lloyd M. Prosser who preceded her in death on December 28, 2002. She lived at Sunset Hill Farm from 1942, in the early 1950's, Ethel and her husband, Lloyd became co-owners with Col. Robert H. Murray in the poultry and dairy business. She was the bookkeeper and responsible for the processing-sales division, where she was known as "Mom" to the high school dairy workers. In her retirement, Ethel, was the author of many articles about the history and events of Sunset Hill Farm. She was an avid gardener, crafter, and quilter. Ethel was a charter member of the Faith Memorial Lutheran Church, Valparaiso, where she taught Sunday school. Surviving are her two daughters, Janet L. Pullins of Valparaiso and Donna R. (Larry) Cawby of Valparaiso; special friends, Jim and Sue Martz, six grandchildren, Andy (Tami) Pullins of Valparaiso, Aaron (Kim) Pullins of Kouts, Christine (Alan) Mayernik, Amy (Jim) Davis and Brad and Julie Martz; nine great-grandchildren, Kristopher, Kaylee, Jacob, Madi, Reese, Jimmy, Michael, Brianna and Karly. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, brother Warren Rosenbaum and sister, Vera Glinski. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at the Faith Memorial Lutheran Church, 753 N. Calumet (Old 49 near Hwy. 6), Valparaiso, with Rev. John Albers officiating. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to Faith Memorial Lutheran Church, VNA Hospice of Porter County, or Whispering Pines Transportation Activities.
