French civil engineer and industrialist. Founder of the company Ernest Goüin et Cie., building locomotives, bridges and ships. His company later evolved into the Société de Construction des Batignolles, further involving in railway construction also. The graceful Margaret Bridge over the river Danube in Budapest, Hungary, is one of his lasting designs. The name of this great man is among the seventy-two names engraved on the Eiffel Tower.
