Ledyard - Hazel (Holmes) Burnett, 86, of Gales Ferry, died peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 5, 2010, at the Groton Regency.She was born on Dec. 3, 1923, in New London, the daughter of the late Elmer and Edythe (Havens) Holmes.Hazel was an avid antique dealer for many years. She held a booth at the College Mart Flea Market in Jewett City for over 20 years. Hazel was a member and past president of the Business and Professional Women and was elected Woman of the Year during her membership.Hazel's love for her family always came first. She also loved the Yankees, the women's UConn basketball team, Engelbert Humperdinck, and her animals. Everyone who knew Hazel, loved her. Hazel was always enthusiastic and positive. Her zest for life was amazing. We say goodbye to a loving, delightful, and beautiful lady who could always make you laugh. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was the "coolest" Nana ever.She is survived by her husband, Arthur, of 68 years; daughter, Carol Lillibridge of Griswold; sisters, Doris Jones of Rhode Island and Helen Rolfe of Waterford; granddaughters, Stacey Lillibridge, Christy Lillibridge Socha, and Aimee Lillibridge; great-grandchildren, Patricia, Richie, Taylor, Hannah, Nathan; and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her sister, Lorna Morgan.
