Ruth (Lowe) Rowe was born in Colburn-Buck Creek area of Indiana the daughter of Ina B. and James F. Lowe.

She met Lawrence at Purdue's electrician mate school while Lawrence was in the Navy during WWII. On November 6, 1944 in Washington, DC Ruth married Lawrence Eugene Rowe, son of Earl Augustus Rowe and Clara (Christopherson) Rowe of Lake Park, Iowa. They married the night that President Roosevelt was elected for his fourth term.  

Ruth worked at the Pentagon so she could help with the WWII effort and be close to her husband when he came into port in Norfolk, Virginia. Later, when her husband started coming into New York harbor she moved to Brooklyn, and that is where their son, Dennis, was born on October 21, 1945.

They moved back to Layfayette, IN where the rest of their children were born.

Ruth died suddenly of an aorta anyersum.
