Frank Delano Gilbert, Sr. 1933-2004 California/NW Indiana Frank Delano Gilbert, Sr., age 70 of Fountain Valley, CA, passed away peacefully at his home on October 21, 2004. A longtime resident of Northwest Indiana, Frank was an Army veteran who worked in supervision at Inland Steel, Heckett Engineering and in heavy equipment with the Midwest Operating Engineers, Local 150. Frank is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wanda; daughter and son-in-law, C. Sue and Tim Braun; daughter-in-law, Kim; grandchildren, David, Christine, Emily, Nicole, Katie and Samuel; brother, Millard Gilbert; sister, Gladys Knapp; sisters-in-law, Doris and Mildred Gilbert; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Portage fire fighter, Frank "Lane" Gilbert, Jr. in 1997. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 27, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Fagen Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Ave., Highland. On Thursday, October 28, 2004, visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. with a funeral to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, 305 E. 6th Street, Hobart. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the City of Portage Park Department, 2100 Willowcreek Road, Portage, IN 46368. Please make memo to indicate the "Frank Gilbert, Jr. Memorial Park Fund". The family takes great solace in knowing that father and son are reunited in their heavenly home.
