Teddy was born and raised on a farm in the Kittitas Valley near Ellensburg, Kittitas County, Washington. He didn't want to be a farmer, according to his sister Mable. When electricity first came to Ellensburg, he would help install it in homes that wanted it.
Teddy wrote his sister Mable from San Francisco when he married Frances Morrison. In 1926, when his daughter Ethel was two years old, he returned to Ellensburg.
After his divorce, Teddy married Ethel Gage on May 7, 1933 in Ellensburg. One son and three daughters were born to them, of which two daughters died in infancy.
Teddy died at the age of 75 in Ellensburg. His obituary stated that he and his wife were living at 202 Elliott. He had been a heavy equipment operator in road construction. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge and Teamsters Local 524. He died at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital.
