Leon Roberts, Sr., 76, husband of Mae Roberts, entered into rest on November 29, 2013 at the St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
A native of Paris, KY, he was born May 5, 1937 the son of the late Marvin Roberts, Sr. and the late Dora Wright Roberts. He was a member and church steward of the Shorter Chapel AME Church, he was also a member and former president of the 30-20 club. He was employed at Hansley Mills, Inc. for over 26 years where he served as the union steward and worked at Hinkle Contracting for 12 years.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, he was survived by three children, Leon (Heidi) Roberts, Angela (Phil) Chenault and Myrin (Angela) Roberts; three grandsons, Chadrick Roberts, Traun Roberts and Aiden Roberts; one granddaughter, Brionna Roberts; five great grandsons, Chadrick Roberts, Jr., Caden Roberts, Gyvin Roberts, Jaden Roberts and Ryder Roberts; three sisters, Marvinella Fisher, Sarah Roberts and Christine (Mark) Vanderpool; four brothers, Luzon (Jill) Roberts, Andre Roberts, Gerald Roberts and Kaje Roberts, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin Roberts, Jr., James Lawrence Roberts and Frances Roberts and four sisters, Laura Jo Jones, Barbara Boston, Greer Lee Cunningham and Pamela Glover.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 PM Thursday December 5, 2013 at the First Christian Church, 911 High St., Paris, KY by Rev. Stephanie M. Gudger. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memory Gardens.
