First wife of James Riley Jones (1844-1903). They were married on September 8, 1864 in Delaware County, Indiana. Rauzilla was the daughter of Andrew M. Dragoo and Elizabeth (Parker) Dragoo. Rauzilla died at age 43 yrs, 2 months and 27 days old. Mother of five children including: Corp. William Greer Jones, Otto Elsworth Jones, Martha Ellen Jones, Elizabeth Jemima Jones and an infant son who died at age one.

Death notice from, "The Winchester Journal," Wednesday, October 3, 1888:

"W.J. Dragoo was called to Montpelier, Blackford County, last Friday, by the illness of his only sister, Mrs. Jones. The lady died Sunday and her remains were interred on Monday. Her funeral will be preached two weeks from next Sunday."

Please note: Some records and family histories also list Rauzzilla as "Rosella." Her cemetery records list her as "Rauzilla" and her father's will lists her as "Rozilla." Her headstone lists her as "Rauzzilla." I am listing her here as "Rauzzilla" as that is what the headstone and some census records indicate.

Also note: There appears to be some confusion in some family histories about the name of Rauzilla's husband. Some people think she was the wife of Virgil Earp. This is not true. Rauzilla was only married one time and that was to James Riley Jones (1843-1903) in 1864. Her children with James were born between 1867 and 1873. The wife of Virgil Earp was 10 years younger than Rauzilla Dragoo, and his wife was born in France, not Ohio. Also, Rauzzilla is on the 1870 census with her husband, James Riley Jones, in Monroe, Randolph County, Indiana. She did not marry anyone else in 1870 in Missouri.
