Born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Barzille Winfred and Mary Ann "Mame"(Neely) Merrill. Violinist, professor in the Music Department at Indiana University from the mid nineteen twenties until the second half of the twentieth century. Her father, B. Winfred Merrill, was a renowned musician and conductor who came to Indiana University and virtually created the Music Department from nothing. Winifred married Arthur Warren in 1961 and lived in the Indian Trail Tree House in Chicago for some years. Author of "The Arthur Stories," ISBN 0941363015. She left her Stradivarius violin to Indiana University to be used by deserving students.
