Sheryl G. Johnson, 82, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Monday, December 2, 2013, at Crestview Acres in Marion.
She was born July 1, 1931, in Forest City, Iowa, the daughter of Russus M. and Gae A. (Hickok) Hutson. She married Maurice C. Johnson on July 3, 1948 in Hayfield. He preceded her in death on December 11, 2010.
Sheryl graduated Valedictorian of her 1948 Hayfield High School class and was employed as loan officer/assistant manager at Peoples Finance Company for 30 years. She was very active in the past with the Cedar Falls Swim Team and was a member of the Cedar Valley Stamp Club. In 2007, she was recognized by Gov. Branstad for outstanding volunteer work with the Cedar Falls Senior Center. She was past member of St. Timothys United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.
Survived by: a daughter, Linda (Steven) Struyk of St. Charles, MO; two sons, Dan (Rose) of Winfield, IL, and Michael (Kathy) of Cedar Rapids, IA; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: a grandson, Danny Johnson, Jr; and a brother, Richard Hutson.
Memorial services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Stonebridge Church (1829 Stoney Point Rd SW, Cedar Rapids 52404) with visitation for one hour prior to services at the church.
