Leon D. Nichols, age 84 of Cozad, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2013 at Golden Living Care Center in Cozad. Leon was born September 5, 1929 at Villisca, Iowa to Clyde and Ethel (Daly) Nichols. Leon grew up in Belgrade, Nebraska, where he met Reva M. Kraus. On August 25, 1948, Leon married Reva at Belgrade. This past August Leon and Reva celebrated 65 years of marriage. In 1950, the couple moved to Cozad where they made their home. Leon and Reva were blessed with 3 children, Ginger, Doug and Dallas. Leon worked for Paulsen, Inc. for 17 years. Leon then owned and operated Leon's Delivery. He worked for Nebraska Plastics for 25 years before he retired. Leon enjoyed oil painting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and saw sharpening. He loved helping his kids with their home remodeling projects and very seldom turned down a family member or friend that needed help with something. Leon was very generous with his time. He was a proud grandpa, and greatly enjoyed time spent with family. Leon was a member of the Eagle's Lodge. Leon was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Gary Nichols, Don Nichols and Neil Nichols. Survivors include his wife, Reva of Cozad; daughter Ginger (Kevin) Nelson of Banner, WY; sons, Doug (Sally) Nichols of Kearney and Dallas (Jan) Nichols of Cozad; 2 sisters, Viola Willis of Kenniwick, WA and Carol (Chuck) DeLancy of Fullerton, NE; brother, Keith Nichols of Fullerton, NE; 7 grandchildren, Chad (Jennifer) Fairchild of Spokane, WA, Scott Fairchild of Sheridan, WY, Shannon (Jeff) Anderson of Littleton, CO, Shiloh (fiancé Josh Martinez) Nichols of Littleton, CO, Collin (Kate) Nichols of Kearney, Brandee (Dave) Schram of Hastings, and Jeff (Rosann) Nichols of Omaha; 15 great grandchildren, Geordon, Jaiden, Jazmyn and Jillian Fairchild, Case and Siahna Anderson, Carson, Kyler and Corinne Nichols, Haley, Brayden and Zach Schram, and Katie, Grace and Luke Nichols; sister-in-law, Judy Kraus of Cozad; and numerous other family and friends. Services will be Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Potter officiating. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of the arrangements.
