Geneva Jane Brooks Smith, 88, of Tompkinsville, passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.

She was born August 7, 1925 in Monroe County, KY to the late Thomas Gilford Brooks and Bonnie Bray Brooks. She was a retired school teacher having taught for 36 years, a member of Monroe County Retired Teachers Association and a member of Kettle Creek Church of Christ. She was united in marriage on April 7, 1945 to Sam Milt Smith who preceded her in death on January 28, 2005.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Sam Phillip and Kimberly Smith of Tompkinsville, two sisters: Ann Froedge of Bowling Green, Wilma Hazel Guthrie of Franklin, KY, 2 grandchildren: Samuel Jackson Smith of Kingston, TN, Katelyn Beth Smith Keeling of Corbin, KY, 3 great grandchildren: Jazzmin and Prestin Smith and Jagger Keeling.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters: Freda Pitchford and Laverne Gee.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 5 at 1:00 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in the Smith Cemetery in Monroe County.

Visitation will be after 3:00 PM on Wednesday and after 7:30 AM on Thursday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
