Almer Dorr Brooks, age 81, 2201 Pinehurst, Midland, died Friday, March 2, 1990 at the Mid-Michigan Regional Medical Center. Mr. Brooks was born the son of Ward and Blanche (Dorr) Brooks, June 24, 1908 in Midland. He attended Midland schools and was graduated from Midland High school in 1927. He then began his career with the Dow Chemical Company which spanned 45 years in Dow Metal sales, retiring in 1973. He was married to the former Loretta Schaefer, August 19, 1933 in Mishawaka, Ind. He lived here his entire life. Mr. Brooks was a member of the Midland Elks Lodge #273 F & AM of Midland. He was an avid hunter and gardener and enjoyed refinishing furniture as a hobby.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta; sons, Ward Brooks at home and Brent T. Brooks of Midland; sons and daughters-in-law Philip C. and Connie H. Brooks of Midland, Ted and Connie B. Brooks, and Bruce and Barbara Brooks of Midland; one sister, Mrs. Eston (Dorothy) Barthel of Midland; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A grandson, David Philip Brooks, and brother Lynn Brooks predeceased him. Interment in the Midland Cemetery. Memorials to St. Johns Lutheran church.
