He was born here, a son of Robert and Shaka Portoukalian Tevanian, graduated from Portland High School in 1942 and from Gorham State Teachers College.
During World War II, he served in the Marine Corps.
Mr. Tevanian was a retired postal worker.
He was a former member of Chestnut Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Wilson Tevanian; two daughters, Laura T. Labbe of Saco and Robyn L. Tevanian of Portland; a son, Robert B.; two sisters, Mary Tevanian and Shirley E. Tevanian, and a brother, Leon C., all of Portland; and a granddaughter, Jessica Labbe of Saco.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Burial will be in Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
