Robert Lee Day Lawrence was born at St. John Hospital in Tulsa and was the son of John Raymond "Zip" Day and Mildred Violet Robertson.
Mildred later married James Frederick Lawrence Jr. in 1936. Fred then adopted Robert and changed his last name from Day to Lawrence. Robert's dad, John Raymond Day was listed on the Dawes Roll as 1/8 Muscogee Creek Indian which made Robert 1/16 Creek. Robert was a 1949 graduate of Will Rogers High School in Tulsa. He attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU) and was a talented musician in several college jazz bands. He graduated from the OSU School of Veterinary medicine in 1958. He was in small animal practice in Tulsa for a short while but in 1962 moved to a 70-acre farm between Rogers and Bentonville, Arkansas and worked for the USDA Food Inspection Service, retiring from there around 1990. He later married Dr. Karen Morris, DVM, and retired to Omaha, Nebraska. Robert Day passed away on 5/19/2004 due to a pulmonary embolism likely brought on by pancreatic cancer.
