CALHOUN, LA - Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Helen Irene Gills, 90, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Mike Wilkes of Whisper Pines Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Monday evening between the hours of 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gills was born on June 8, 1923, and passed away on Saturday afternoon, November 30, 2013. She was one of four children born to parents, Floyd and Ether (Key) Brown.
Mrs. Gills is preceded in death by her son, John R. Gills; brothers, James M. Brown and Bruce Brown; and her parents. She leaves behind to cherish her memory; husband, Rodney L. Gills; son, James Chester Gills Sr.; sister, Pearl Gogle; and grandchildren, John Rodney Gills, Jr., Jesse Robert Rodney Gills, and Rene Sanders.
