Mrs. Augusta Morris de Peyster, widow of Frederic J. de Peyster, died yesterday of paralysis at the home of her son, F. Ashton de Peyster, at Morristown, N.J. Mrs. de Peyster's home in this was at 11 East Eighty-sixth street. She went to Morristown recently to visit her son, and was stricken. Until three days ago the physicians had hope of her recovery but then she suffered a relapse.
Mrs. de Peyster, before marriage, was Miss Augusta McEvers Morris of Morrisania. She was a descendant of Lewis Morris, signer of the Declaration of Independence. Frederic J. de Peyster, who died about five years ago, was also a member of one of the old New York families. He was a scholar and philanthropist, and Mrs. de Peyster, too, was well known for her interest in chartable work.
Mrs. de Peyster, who was 60 years old, is survived by one son, Frederic Ashton de Peyster, who married Miss Alice Abercrombie-Miller, and four daughters: Mrs. George Augustus Lung, Mrs. William Brock Shoemaker, Miss Frances G. de Peyster, and Miss Augusta M. de Peyster.
