Mary Caroline Boucher was the daughter of George H Hillhouse and Elizabeth (Dobbins) Hillhouse. She was married twice; first to William Murell in 1845 in Giles Co, TN, with whom she had one daughter, and second, to Cary Boucher in 1853 in Lawrence Co, MO, with whom she had five daughters. The following excerpt is taken from page 49 of The Diary of James Dobbins Hillhouse, her brother (spelling as in the original): "June 13, 1893 Sister Caroline Boucher died last night. She was 70 years 7 months 28 days old. She leaves six liveing girls, four married, two single, one sister and four brothers. She was laid beside hur husband in hur last resting place in this world today. Rev G W Harper preached hur funreal to large audence of relatives and friends. I stayed with the two lonly sisters and other friends spent the night. They seam verry lonley, no Ma, no Pa, no brother". Her surviving sister was Jane Hillhouse Springer and her four surviving brothers were Elijah Boyd Hillhouse, Sr, James Dobbins Hillhouse, Robert Stevenson Hillhouse and John Randall Hillhouse.
