Mrs. Vandi F. Shereda, a resident of this community for the past 49 years, died Monday forenoon at a hospital in Marshfield where she had been receiving treatment for several weeks of a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock yesterday afternoon from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home. Father John English of St. Katherine's Episcopal Church officiated, with burial being made in the family lot at Riverside Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were A.C. Little, David McVey, John Potocnik, Roy Segerstrom, Carl Holverson and Rex Copper. In charge of the floral offerings were Mesdames Rex Copper and S.E. Grimes.
Tuesday evening members of the Owen chapter of the Eastern Star Lodge conducted services at the funeral parlors.
Amra Shereda, the daughter of the late Julia and Henry M. Clark, was born Oct. 22, 1885 at Muscoda, Wis., where she received her education. On March 11, 1911, she was married to the late Vandi F. Shereda, who preceded her in death in 1949. The ceremony was performed at Muscoda and the couple then made their home in Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) where Mr. Shereda was employed as depot agent. Later he became cashier of the State Bank of Owen.
Until several years ago, Mrs. Shereda was most active in civic affairs and was a charter member of St. Katherine's Church. She served as the first president of the parish's Guild, and for years acted as organist.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Bobbette) Tourney, Withee; one granddaughter, Mrs. V. Ritter, Withee, and a great-grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Orren (Vera) Lovell, Madison, and Calesta Clark, Muscoda, and one brother, Dr. G. A. Clark of Eau Claire.
