Holbert W. Brown was born in Larue County, Kentucky, a son of Alfred C. (Cad) Brown and Susan Mildred Wood Brown. Alfred C. Brown was from Hart County and born 1829-1833. Alfred married Holbert's mother, Susan Mildred Wood on 24 March 1874 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He 43, she 26. Consent: J. M. Wood. Susan is buried here in Red Hill Cemetery. Alfred's death is not recorded but may also be buried here.

Holbert and Bertha lived in the Buffalo area of Larue County most of their life.

Holbert W. Brown, a former LaRue County Resident, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, at an Indianapolis, Ind., hospital following a stroke. He resided at Buffalo for many years before moving to Indianapolis about nineteen years ago. His wife, the former Bertha Graham, preceded him in death. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Earl Speer (Lois); a grandson, Chandler Ford, and four great grandchildren, all of Indianapolis and one sister, Mrs. Archie Akin, of near Hodgenville. His remains were brought to Hodgenville Thursday for burial in Red Hill Cemetery.
