On March 18, 1865, he was admitted to Emory U.S. Hospital, Washington DC, for treatment of malaria, and there discharged the service by surgeon's certificate May 3, 1865.
He married Elizabeth Jane Specht in 1873 and fathered Clara Edith (b. @1880), Louisa B. (b. @1883), and Florence Rita (b. @1886). Cause of death is listed as a "cerebral hemorrhage" with "chronic endocarditis & arteriosclerosis" contributing factors.
