Gales Ferry - Laura C. Marshall died May 1st at the age of 94 at the Fairview Nursing Home in Groton.Mrs. Marshall was born on April 30, 1913, in New London, the daughter of Salvatore and Concetta Caracausa. They are both deceased.Mrs. Marshall attended WMI in New London, and later graduated from The New London Business College in 1931. She worked for the Connecticut Power Company, then located in downtown New London, until marrying Hillman C. Marshall in 1935. Mr. Marshall passed away in June 1990.Years ago Mrs. Marshall was a member of the First Church of Christ in New London and was active in the guild. It was through church acquaintanceships that she became a member of a bridge club and a sewing club that met regularly for a number of years.She and her husband were both avid golfers. They played on the various golf courses in the surrounding area. After Mr. Marshall's retirement, they played golf in Florida during the winter months as well.Mrs. Marshall resided at 5 Harvard Terrace in Gales Ferry for 33 years prior to moving to Fairview Nursing Home in January of 2000. She spent the majority of the previous years living in New London. She resided on Pearl Street in Noank during part of her formative years and attended the Old Noank Grammar School. Son Wayne Marshall of Gales Ferry, son Bruce Marshall of Naples, Fla., daughter Jean Burroughs of Waltham, Mass., five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren survive Mrs. Marshall. -
