Jim was born on May 29, 1934, in Eureka to Lee and Ruth Neuhauser Stalter. He married Alta Hochstedler on May 9, 1954, at Howard-Miami Mennonite Church in Kokomo, Indiana.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, Stanley (Lori) Stalter, Kenneth (Kathy) Stalter and Keith Stalter; four grandchildren and one brother, Ronald Stalter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild, Erin Stalter; and one brother, John Stalter.
Jim grew up on a farm and lived his entire life in the Eureka area and retiredfrom Caterpillar after 25 years of service.
Jim was a member of Living Faith Fellowship Church.
