John is predeceased by his wife, Tove Willestrup Allen. He is lovingly remembered by his brother, Stephen F. Allen (Doneda) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; his son, John W. Allen (Denise) of Houston; and his daughters, Julie Pruitt (Roger)of Houston and Cathy Allen (Randy) of Las Vegas. He leaves a legacy of eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
John was born in Salt Lake City in 1930. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1949. John was a medic in the United States Army, having been deployed to Germany. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor's of Science in 1956.
He married his sweetheart, Tove, in Salt Lake City. They moved to Las Vegas, where he was a stock broker and real estate appraiser.
He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at age fifty and served diligently his ward and the LDS Temple. John enjoyed football, skiing, tennis, fishing, and golf. He continued to play tennis into his later years and even past the age of eighty he could still outplay those half his age or younger. John was well-known for his witty sense of humor.
