Church entered into his eternal rest on Friday, November 29, 2013, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born to Cleveland and Ollie Wood in Cleveland, MS on August 30, 1933. He was graduated from Greenwood High School, Greenwood, MS and then attended LSU before being called into service at the end of the Korean Conflict. After his tour of duty, he returned to Baton Rouge and continued to work at Illinois Central Railroad where he retired after 51 years. He is survived by his "child bride" of 52 years, Mary Ann Wood; two daughters, Laura Daigle and husband, Mark, and Tracy Wood, all of Lafayette; a brother, Jim Wood, of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Sgt. Brandon Daigle and wife Scoti, Lauren Daigle, and Madison Daigle; a great grandson, Colt Daigle; a bonus family member, Sierra McAllister, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Angela Ruth Wood, five brothers, Blair, Robert, Bill, Fernie, and Jack Wood; two sisters, May Thompson and Mary Frances Wood. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 4 pm until 7 pm, and after 9 am Monday, December 2, 2013 until religious services at 11 am in the funeral home chapel conducted by Rev. Tom Denton and Rev. Joel Willson. Graveside services will be Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 1 pm at Teagle Cemetery, Winnfield, LA. Pallbearers will be Mark Daigle, Sgt. Brandon Daigle, David Wood, Kenny Thompson, Fernie Wood, and Duncan Young. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Wood. Memorial donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
