Edward married Elizabeth Astley, the daughter of Thomas Astley of Writtle and Mary Denny, the daughter of Sir Anthony. They had four sons and nine daughters; Sir Robert, Christopher, Devereux, Carew, Katherine; wife of William West, Elizabeth; wife of William Bate, Anne; wife of Sir Caldecott, Frances; wife of Thomas Carew, Phillipe; wife of Dr Thomas Pattison, Mary; wife of Richard Harris, Dorothy, Philadelphia and Isabel.
Edward was knighted on 23 April 1603 and granted the Dartford Priory for life in 1606.
