Anna Catherine Gilkey Owen, 100, Charlottesville, Va., formerly of Toledo, Ohio, and Louisville, Ky., died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at Martha Jefferson Hospital.
Born June 8, 1913, in Taylorsville, Ky., she was the daughter of John Albin Gilkey and Clara Evelyn Lindle.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Stanley Hume Owen; son, William Edwin Owen; son-in-law, Roger A. Grady; and her six siblings.
She is survived by children, Margaret Kathleen "Tif" Reynolds (Al), Charlottesville, Va., Mary Jeannine "Jeannie" Dery (Serge), Toledo, Ohio, Thomas Stanley "Tom" Owen (Donna), Colorado Springs, Colo., and Linda Dianne Grady, Kokomo; daughter-in-law, Lucille Owen, Rochester, Minn.; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 16 nieces and nephews.
There will be a funeral Mass at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Incarnation, 1465 Incarnation Drive, Charlottesville. Visitation will be in the Daily Mass Chapel at Incarnation one hour prior to Mass. The Rev. Edwin Montanez will be the celebrant. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, Ky., at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Pregnancy Centers of Central Virginia, 1420 Greenbrier Place, Charlottesville, VA 22901; Heartbeat of Toledo, 4041 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH 43623; or Birthright of Kokomo, 3712 Southlea Drive, Kokomo, IN 46902.
