She was a sister of General William Alexander

She married Walter Rutherfurd, a British Army Veteran of the Seven Years War, born 1723-d.January 14, 1804. A son of his brother Thomas was John Rutherford Jr. (b.1746 Yorkshire-d.1830 Scotland) who was captured, but escaped during Pontiac's rebellion of 1763. He later served 30 years in the Black Watch Regiment and retired as a Major. John Rutherfurd was also a nephew of James Sterling who was a Detroit trader for Walter Rutherfurd. Another brother of Walter Ruthherfurd was John Rutherfurd Sr., killed 1758 at Fort Ticonderoga, who was a Major and married to Eleanor Elliot daugther of Sir Gilbert Elliot and Helen, daugther of Sir John Stuart and sister to Andrew Elliott Lt. Governor of New York.

The parents of Walter and John Rutherfurd Sr were John Rutherfurd and Elizabeth Cairncross of Colmise; John was the son of Thomas Rutherfurd and Susanna daugther of Riddell of Minto. Neither John nor his father Thomas claimed title to Chief of the Rutherfurd Clan.
