Dennis spent his early years in Tulsa, later moving to Louisiana where he attended school. The family later returned to Oklahoma and made Wetumka their home. He entered the US Marine Corps in 1966 and honorably served his country during the Viet Nam conflict. Following his discharge he returned to Oklahoma and attended Okmulgee State Tech where he was trained as a machinist. He was first employed by Knight Industries and later for Geophysical Research Corp. He enjoyed playing the guitar, violin, and researching family genealogy. He also liked being outdoors and enjoyed frontier living, civil war reenactment, photography and target shooting. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gerald, Glenn and Dale; and a daughter, Rachel Ann.
