HARRY VAUGHAN Master of Verona Grange Succumbs
ROME -- JULY 24, Harry Vaughan, 81, master of Verona Grange and former well known farmer in that section, passed away early this morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. William H. Robinson, 311, North Madison Street, where ha had made his home since February. He had been ailing several months.
Mr. Vaughan was born in Morrisville, Madison County, son of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Vaughan and 30 years ago was united in marriage with Nina Gerwig of New London, who died seven years ago. Mr. And Mrs. Vaughan were superintendent and matron of the Rochester Industrial School for several years and had also been employed as attendants in the Rome State School at the time of their marriage.
Mr. Vaughan was a member of the Verona Presbyterian Church and Odd Fellow and Masonic Lodges in that place, and had also been town tax collector. He sold his farm last spring because of failing health and came to this city for treatment.
Surviving are three children, Herman, assistant principal of Holley High School near Rochester, Hazel and Elizabeth at home; one brother, Benjamin Vaughan, Stacy Basin and three other sisters, Mrs. Frank Butler, Rome, Miss May Vaughan, Endicott, and Miss Winifred Vaughan, Sherrill.
Funeral services will be held at the Robinson Home Monday at 2 p.m. daylight saving time, and in the Verona Presbyterian Church and hour later. The Masonic Lodge of which he was a member, will conduct the service and burial will be made in Verona Cemetery.
