Lorene Leonard Nelson
ROCKY GAP, Va. — Lorene Leonard Nelson, age 78, of Rocky Gap, Va., passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010. She was born July 16, 1931 in Mercer Co., W.Va., daughter of the late Matoaka Edward and Clara Lynch Leonard. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dennie Leonard. Lorene was a member of Hollybrook Church of Christ, and she enjoyed making jewelry, sewing and floral arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, John W. Nelson of the home; two daughters, Marie and Jerry Beavers of Tazwell, Va., Connie and Joe Heitz of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Steve and Betty Nelson of Bland, Va., Wayne and Tessa Nelson of Bland, Va.; four sisters, Bevelene Clifton of Buchanan Co., Va., Carol Whitt of Buchanan Co., Va., Darlene Harrison of North Carolina, Jean Leonard of Buchanan Co., Va.; one brother, Walter Leonard of Waipahu, Hawaii; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bland Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jim Conley officiating. Interment will follow in Bland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tue sday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Highland Bland Funeral Chapel, Bland, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
