Johnny Rayford Blackburn 84 of Lake Tawakoni community went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday at his residence. Funeral services celebrating Rayford's life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Ingram Funeral Home with Brother Adam Williams officiating; interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Military Honors at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Pallbearers, Terry Landrum, Carroll Russell, Tommy Heard, Carroll Russell, Mike Rosales, Jimmy McElyea, Mike Wallace, Chase Campbell, Chris Maynor and Dennis Cole.

Rayford was born August 5, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant. He is the son of the late John Blackburn and Erma Johnson Blackburn. He was raised and attended school in Mt. Pleasant. Rayford faithfully served our country in the United States Army, where he met the love of his life Thelma Hanzlik and they married on March 11, 1950. They returned to Mt Pleasant where he worked as an auto mechanic, in 1970 they moved to the Lake Tawakoni Community and was a mechanic in Dallas, he retired in 1995. His grandson, Britt States also preceded him in death on August 7, 2008. Rayford enjoyed gardening, doing yard work and taking and caring for his dogs and cats.

His is loved and will be missed by his loving wife of 63 years Thelma. Son, Danny Blackburn & wife Barbara of Campbell. Daughter, Patty States of Quinlan. Grandchildren, Christine, Michael, Shane, Jackie and Fred. Great-Grandchildren, Tavin, Austin, Alexis, Kym, Kyle, Chase, Amanda, Jenni, Kayleigh and Kaitlyn. Eight Great-Great-Grandchildren. Brothers, Jack Blackburn & wife Delores of Mt. Pleasant and Jerry Blackburn & wife Nell of Tyler. Sister, Susie Gammon of Rowlett.
