NEW: Death Date:

::There is no source for the date of death and there is no headstone found yet, for him in the cemetery.

Our family tree line comes originally from the rootsweb.com tree of JOE TAYLOR- Joe gives William a birth year of 1828 Ohio Co. KY. But like most of the RECORDS census/other records there are differences.. the census records 1850/60/70 give William F. year of birth of 1821 but that can not be correct because the Thomas Littlegrove/Sallie were not married until 1826. But all the names MY William F Taylor/Elizabeth Pate-Taylor named their kids are too coincidental....

WE, Linda Baird and I have decided, after review of all the data: the 1850/60/70 census records, the "Suit" DATED May 31, 1850- Wm.F. says, "he was raised by John Peyton Taylor and always resided in his family until about 2 years before his death." And further stated, "he was 28 or 29 years old."
All the data says his year of birth would be 1821. So this tells us that his father was John Peyton and not Thomas Littlegrove and that his mother was Mary C. Davis-Taylor. Mary would have been 49 years old when he was born. Which is possible, especially when she had a son just 8 years prior.
'***********************************************************
And to look at our theory here is another bit of evidence:
Kentucky Marriages, 1785-1979
NAME: Thomas L. TAYLOR
SPOUSE: Sally McCrocklin
DATE: 12 October 1826
PLACE: Ohio Co. Kentucky

And Thomas's first wife Cassandra is known to have had only 2 sons, one died in infancy. And the other was a preacher like his father.

Kentucky marriages, 1785-1979
NAME: William F. Taylor
SPOUSE: Elizabeth Jane Pate
DATE: 27 August 1846
PLACE: Ohio Cnty. KY.
The Marriage certificate of William F. Taylor and Elizabeth Jane Pate and another document "marriage contract" is signed by her father William Pate.

1850 census taken Sept. 9, 1850 by: H.D Taylor, Asst. Marshall Dist. #2 Ohio County, Kentucky
HEAD: William F - age 29 KY occ.: farmer
Elizabeth J wife- age 27 KY
John P. age 2
Squire L. age: 1
(right next door to them was: John P.TAYLOR age:36 VA (1814) /Susanna and 6 kids.
John Peyton TAYLOR was in fact the youngest son of John Peyton Taylor SR. or the John Peyton that William F. lived most of his life. I wondered why he would live with a grandfather instead of a father... Well, Thomas Littlegrove was a Preacher. And he had an older son from his first wife, Cassandra. Maybe Wm. F did not get along with them?
NEW THEORY: John Peyton was William F.s father not his grandfather. So that would make the John Peyton that was living next door his brother not his uncle.

Kentucky Births & Christenings, 1839-1960
NAME: William H. Taylor
Birth: 20 JAN. 1852 Ohio, KY.
FATHER: William T.

HEAD: William F. TAYLOR age:39 KY farmer
Elizabeth age:30 KY
John P age 12 KY
Squire L age 10 KY
William H age 8 KY (this IS my g-g-g)
James age:6 KY
Samuel age:2 KY
AND unbelievable on one side of their farm is:
Samuel GREER/Mary +4 kids, next to them is John C Greer/ Martha +3 kids + a boarder, JAMES GREER.
and on the other side of the farm is Widow Minerva GREER and 3 teenagers...

POW card for William T(F).- Confederate-Co.E 2nd Reg.Duke's Cav.

Battle Buffington Island-captured
Camp Douglas became known as "Andersonville of the North"
it had a 17-23% death rate.
So Grandfather William did make it home from being a POW-first at Camp Douglas, Chicago, Illinois. "Hell Hole"
and then transferred to Pt. Lookout Maryland.
First captured July 26, 1863 at Salineville, Ohio-
So for 1 yr/7 months prisoner there and then to be Exchanged at Pt. Lookout.

Margaret P age:7 KY
Jesse age:3 -M- KY

Williams BROTHERS KIDS--as per the 1850 census Ohio Co. KY
HEAD: Thomas L. TAYLOR age:55 farmer Virginia
Sarah age:42 KY
Squire L. age:23 KY (aka Samuel)
Cassander age:21 KY
Jesse M. age:18 KY (middle name:McCrocklin)
Benjamin age:16 KY
Richard D age:14 Ky
Lucinda age:12 KY
Mary age:10 KY
George W. age:8 KY
Jane age:6 (first name Lydia)
James F age:4 KY
Henry P age:2

The reasons I believe this is the correct father to my g-grandfather are: several family trees list a son
William H. and dob: Jan 1852 KY-
my William H is dob: 1854 KY, this from a census.
It also says "Head of family- parents born KY"
and my William H has 2 daughters named Mary (Mollie) and one Sallie which are the names of the sisters on the William H, son of William F/Elizabeth Pate.
Also they named their sons John Peyton-Squire L-Samuel
just like his brothers. There are too many coincidences...
Except the date of birth is either 1821 OR 1827 depends on what family tree you are reading, hard to tell but I believe I have made a strong case to prove MY William H. as the son of William F. TAYLOR.
