She was born in Marion to the late John and Maude (Shanks) Burns. She married W. Lawrence Dilley on November 25, 1939. He survives. Helen retired from Foster Forbes and was formerly employed with the Grant County Auditors Office and Marion City Water Works. She was affiliated with Sunnycrest Baptist Church. She liked to knit and crochet.
Survivors include her husband, W. Lawrence Dilley, Marion; daughters, Pamela (Ralph) Amburgey, Jan (Dave) Robinson, and son, Larry (Beth) Dilley, all from Marion; granddaughters, Angie (Shane) Drook, Jammi (Roger Cox) Dilley, and Brandi (Justin) Hurd, all from Marion; great grandsons, Jordan Drook, Braden Drook, Clayton Drook, and Rylan Cox; sister, Ann Magers, LaFontaine; special friends, Kim Dumpert and Danielle Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Dean Amburgey; brothers, Barry, Ray, Dee and Everett Burns; and sister, Nellie Sluder.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2008 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, Ind. with Pastor Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will take place in Estates of Serenity, Marion.
