Mrs. Barclay was born in Dewitt County.
She was a life member of the Illinois Congress of Parents and Teachers and was named Illinois Rural Teacher of the Year in 1955. She had been a teacher for 37 years, 28 of those in Warrensburg.
After her retirement she became librarian of the Barclay Public Library of Mini Township in Warrensburg. She had started the library in her home.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Concordia Women's Club, Retired teachers Association and Alpha Delta Kappa.
Her husband John W. Barclay died in 1916.
Surviving are sons. Robert of Tucson, Ariz.: Ottis of New Castle, Colo.; Owen and Harry, both of Decatur; five grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren.
