Source of Obituary:"THE MUSCATINE JOURNAL", Muscatine, Iowa, February 15, 1921, page 7 Mrs. George Nyenhuis--- Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. George Nyenhuis of Sweetland township, will be conducted from the family home Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. L. E. Jones, pastor of New Era Lutheran church, will officiate, and burial will be made in the Harker cemetery.
Mrs. Nyenhuis passed away at Hershey hospital at 7:30 o'clock Sunday morning after an illness of three weeks. Death following a complication of ailments.
REBECCA WELSCH, the daughter of FRED and ELIZABETH WELSCH, pioneer residents of Sweetland township, was born April 24, 1873. She lived in Sweetland township during her entire life.
She married George M. Nyenhuis, March 3, 1897, to which union six children were born.
Her husband, three sons, one daughter, five sisters and three brothers survive.
Mrs. Nyenhuis was president of the Kensington society at New Era, having held that office for several years. She was also secretary of the Ladies Aid society and an active and willing worker and school district co-operator of the Sweetland district. She joined the New Era Church when it was first organized.
