John Ralph Kennett, Jr., 83 of Burlington N.C formerly of Roanoke, VA, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013. Mr. Kennett a son of the late John Ralph Kennett, Sr. and Myrtle Doran Kennett was born and raised in Roanoke. Having graduated from Jefferson High School, Mr. Kennett embarked on a life-long career in the printing business, working for several print shops before his retirement. He was a member of Melrose Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Kennett, a son and daughter-in law, Jay and Beth Kennett, and a daughter and son-in law, Kathy and John Jones. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Carrie Jones, Kirby Jones, Abigal Kennett and Emma Kennett; a niece and her husband, Pat and Bill Nichols. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's North Chapel 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 29, 2013, with Rev. Larry Sprouse officiating. Interment will follow in Fair View Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family suggest s memorials be made to Melrose Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice.
