As a young woman, she moved with her family to San Diego. Colleen graduated from San Diego High School. Later she moved to Louisiana where she met and married Gordon Copeland on August 28, 1948. The Copeland's moved to San Diego in 1961 and to Escondido in 1964 where they founded Mission Roofing Company of Escondido.
Colleen loved being a mother and grandmother and her greatest passion was taking care of all of them. She also enjoyed spending time at the slot machines at Valley View Casino.
She is survived by her children, Mindy (Richard) Dobbins, Phyllis (Skip) Fielder, Randall (Kem) Copeland; sister, Harriett Arrabie; sister-in-law, Patty Ferdig; seven grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon in 2010; and brothers, Phillip Ferdig and Kay Ferdig.
